Method of working
From seed to final product
We grow high-quality radishes year-round, built on decades of experience and expertise. We deliberately choose only the best radish seeds and continuously apply the latest cultivation techniques and innovations to keep refining our methods. This allows us to stay innovative.
Interested in how we work? Below, we explain our process step by step.
Cultivation
Everything begins with a solid foundation: healthy soil
We grow radishes year-round, 52 weeks a year. It all starts with the basics, which is why we invest in healthy, fertile soil every year. For optimal growth, the structure of the soil is essential. The soil must be even, with the right balance of water and air, and good drainage capacity. Before we begin sowing, we prepare the soil by rotavating it. The blades of the rotary tiller break the soil down into a fine, loose structure, allowing the radish to develop in the best possible conditions.
Sowing
Temperature and light determine the sowing density
Radishes are sown using advanced seeding machines that precisely place the seeds at the correct distance. Depending on the season, this amounts to an average of 200 to 350 seeds per square meter. The sowing density is determined by the combination of temperature and light in the greenhouse. After sowing, proper watering and fertilization ensure good germination and growth. In summer, radishes reach full maturity in just three weeks, while in winter, this process can take up to twelve weeks.
Harvesting
From manual to mechanical
Since the late 1990s, the harvesting machine has become indispensable in the radish harvesting process. Where this was previously done manually, which was very labor-intensive, those days are now behind us. With today’s modern harvesting machines, we can maintain the quality of the radishes, work much more efficiently, and significantly ease the workload for our staff.
Processing
The radishes go through a washing process
After harvesting, the radishes are carefully washed to remove dirt and soil. This ensures that the radishes are clean and ready for further processing. After washing, the radishes undergo a quality inspection.
Packaging
With or without leaves, according to the customer's preferences
After processing, the radishes are packaged. Depending on customer requirements, this may be bunch radishes (with leaves) or loose radishes (without leaves). Once packaged, the radishes are stored in a refrigerated cell. This cooled environment is essential for maintain the freshness of the radishes and ensuring their quality.
